The eighth and final track on What Rocks...
An acoustic, old school Nodak throwback...
"A Season on the Rise"

DOWNLOAD SEASON ON THE RISE!

Another turning point
We're back and it's been fun
It's been a wild ride
On this Tourney run

We made the best of this test
And you know why
It's without question
That the spirit's back this time

It's something unforgettable
This season on the rise
I hope you had the time of your life

So take the photographs
And still frames in your mind
The disappointments and
The good games and good times

Road trips, bleed Hoya Blue
Storming MCI
We are Georgetown
Hoya Saxa, Hoya Pride

It's something unforgettable
This season on the rise
I hope you had the time of your life

Loved Brandon's throw dribble
Ashanti's pull back J's
And DJ's back cutting and
Perfect form long treys

Amadou and Ryan
Rising in their time to shine
And the wait
It was worth all the while

It's something unforgettable
This season on the rise
I hope you had the time of your life

It's something unforgettable
This season on the rise
I hope you had the time of your life

The seventh track from Nodak 89's sophomore album...
Jessie Sapp!

DOWNLOAD JESSIE SAPP!

Jessie has some fans
Yeah you know he’s been a favorite of mine
And lately something’s changed it ain’t hard to define
Jessie’s got himself some run, he’s getting playin’ time

And he's watching with those eyes
And he’s gonna be a baller, I just know it
And he’s driving in the lane and breaking through the trap

Y’know, I’m glad that we got Jessie Sapp
I’m glad that we got Jessie Sapp
Where did III find a point guard like that?

Out of New York City
With fans in the Garden, all calling, out his name
You know that our coeds think he’s kinda cute
The wanna be his girl, but the point is probably moot

And they’re watchin’ him with those eyes
They’re loving him in the game, I just know it
Holding their Sapp signs & wearing Sapp T-shirts

You know they wish that they were Jessie’s girl
They wish that they were Jessie’s girl
So glad we found a point guard like that
Like Jessie Sapp
I’m glad that we got Jessie Sapp

Where did III find our point guard?
So glad we found a point guard like that

And I’m looking to the future all the time
Wondering just how good we can be
Respect is back with the fear close behind
Ain’t that the way it’s supposed to be?

Tell me, where can I find a Ewing like Pat?

Y’know, I’m glad that we got Jessie Sapp
I’m glad that we got Jessie Sapp
We love Jessie Sapp
Where did III find a point guard like that?
Like Jessie Sapp
I’m glad that we got Jessie Sapp
We got, we got Jessie Sapp

The very latest from Nodak 89, inspired by the Duke game...
Then I Stormed the Court!
(to the tune of "I'm a Believer" from Shrek)

DOWNLOAD THEN I STORMED THE COURT!

I hoped that Georgetown would fulfill the fairy tale
Hoyas holding on to a slim lead.
Duke was out to get me
One last shot it seemed.
Then Brandon jumped on the ball and I screamed!

Then I stormed the court
Now I'm a believer
Wearing Georgetown gray
I’m out of my mind
J T III! Ooooo I'm a believer!
Seeing the bedlam at MCI.

You can’t stop the Princetown, we’ll just Old School you
Wallace with the spinning scoop, oh yeah!
What's the use in tryin'?
Threes will fall like rain
Or Jeff will find back cutters in the lane.

And then I stormed the court
Now I'm a believer
Wearing Georgetown gray
I’m out of my mind
J T III! Ooooo I'm a believer!
Seeing the bedlam at MCI.

What's the use in tryin'?
Threes will fall like rain
Or Jeff will find back cutters in the lane.

Then I stormed the court
Now I'm a believer

Then I stormed the court
Now I’m a believer

The latest from Nodak 89... It's Chvotkin!

DOWNLOAD IT'S CHVOTKIN!

IT'S CHVOTKIN
Hear the radio play-by-play?
What the heck did he just say?
Don't worry, it's Chvotkin

The blue-clad Hoyas with the ball
Or maybe not, it's Rich's call
Don't worry, it's Chvotkin

To the tin and to the cup
Off the window for a lay-up
Don't worry, it's Chvotkin

Lefty hooker and snowbird
Was that Evan that I heard?
Don't worry, it's Chvotkin

It's Chovtkin. Rich Chovtkin. Don't worry, it's Chvotkin.

The liftoff and the vesper half
Oh, that Rich he makes me laugh
Don't worry, it's Chvotkin

In a scrum there's a muscle tussle
I think that means he likes their hustle
Don't worry, it's Chvotkin

The offended going to the sin stripe
Eyeball to eyeball, Oh my!
Don't worry, it's Chvotkin

You play the Chvotkin drinking game
Your brain cells never be the same
Don't worry, it's Chvotkin

It's Chovtkin. Rich Chovtkin. Don't worry, it's Chvotkin.

HOYA Basketball

I saw him standin' there wearing gray and blue
I knew he must have been about 7'2
The buses brought along a cheering Hoya throng
And I knew it wouldn't be long
Before they'd sing "ROY...ROY ROY!"
In that Navy gym it's where we begin, begin singin'

Hoya Basketball!
Put another win in the scorebook, baby
Hoya Basketball!
March Madness time come dance with me

I saw them standin' there in the Sea of Gray
MCI was packed as the Hoyas play
C'mon Hoya Blue and all alumni, too.
It's time to sing along, singing our Fight, Fight Song
You know it's been so long since last we met, we met singin'

Hoya Basketball!
Put another win in the scorebook, baby
Hoya Basketball!
March Madness time come dance with me

C'mon Hoya Blue and all alumni, too
Next we're movin' on there's gonna be fear, yeah fear
Movin' on and singing that same old song, yeah with me singin'

Hoya Basketball!
Put another win in the scorebook, baby
Hoya Basketball!
March Madness time come dance with me

Heart of a Hoya (ROY! The Remix)

ROY!...Roy Roy Roy!...Roy Roy Roy!...Roy Roy Royyyyyyyyyyy!

Postin' up back on the block
7'2 , you can't teach that
Lefty hooker made in the lane
Defense knows that they can't reach that

Postin' up high on the key
That's our Roy, fifty-five
Grabs the ball and finds the back cutter
2 more points and he keeps us alive

It's the Heart of a Hoya
It's the thrill of the fight
Rising up to face our Big East rivals
And the next great Hoya Big Man
Stalks his prey in the lane
And he's blocking their shots with the Heart...of a Hoya

ROY!...Roy Roy Roy!...Roy Roy Roy!...Roy Roy Royyyyyyyyyyy!

Boxin' out under the basket
Now it's time to get a rebound
Pick it up, throw it down strong
Don't you know they can't push you around

It's the Heart of a Hoya
It's the thrill of the fight
Rising up to face our Big East rivals
And the next great Hoya Big Man
Stalks his prey in the lane
And he';s blocking their shots with the Heart...of a Hoya

GRAY GRAY AND BLUE

Gray, Gray and Blue
(Sitting Waiting Wishing)

I've been sitting, waiting, wishing
For Midnight Madness or an exhibition
Watching the countdown on the Red Square sign
But Lord knows that our schedule's cruel
Duke, Illinois and Oregon's cool
'Cause making the tourney's what we've got to do.

I've been waiting, waiting, waiting on you
Finally playing in gray, gray and blue

Midnight comes with our first chance
To maybe have Roy Hibbert dance
Watch Josh hit 3's and see Love throw it down
Octavius Spann be the man
And Jesse run the master plan
Because learning the Princetown ain't easy to do.

I've been waiting, waiting, waiting on you
Finally playing in gray, gray and blue

We keep earning respect
But it's not enough
Now it's time to ball
'Cause we got JT3
He keeps building us up
Make us tournament bound
Tournament bound

Can't wait a minute
Just sitting, waiting

If I were in your position
And saw the Hoyas ammunition
I'd know we're back and that the fear is next.
We all know Jeff's the best
Bowman and Cook are up to the test
With Wallace and DJ, Roy and Tyler, too

I've been waiting, waiting, waiting on you
Finally playing in gray, gray and blue.

Only Bleed Hoya Blue

intro

Verse 1

You and me, we come from diff'rent worlds.
New Jersey prep school boys and California girls.
What we got in common, what's our binding tie?
We're all such babies 'cause the Hoyas make us cry.
Well there's something we all do.
We only Bleed Hoya Blue.

Verse 2
You and me, are in the Sea of Gray.
I primped and preened all day to get my wig this way.
I will cheer, I will sing.
I just want to scream and shout, and help 'em win that ring.

What else could I do?
I only Bleed Hoya Blue.
You can call me a fool,
I only Bleed Hoya Blue.

Verse 3
Doing a little wishing, waiting on a dream.
I say, "That would be great, with an on-campus gym"
How'm I gonna get the money? Maybe win the lottery?
Donate ten million bucks and when it's built be named for me.

I can only hope I'm lucky.
I only Bleed Hoya Blue.
Ain't Hibbert so cool?
I only Bleed Hoya Blue.

Yeah, I'm painted up in blue,
I only Bleed Hoya Blue.
You can call me a fool,
I only Bleed Hoya Blue.

Verse 4
Sometimes I wonder, hope it never ends.
One day I'll graduate, then reminisce with friends.
Roadtrips to Philly, or the MCI
I'm such a baby, yeah, the Hoyas make me cry

'Cause there's something I still do.
I only Bleed Hoya Blue.
You can call me a fool,
I only Bleed Hoya Blue.

Yeah, I'm painted up in blue,
I only Bleed Hoya Blue.
I only Bleed Hoya Blue.
I only Bleed Hoya Blue.
I only Bleed Hoya Blue.

NODAK 89 BIOGRAPHY
(Also known as Chris from North Dakota)

"I graduated from the College in 1989, and played tuba in the pep band.

My most vivid pep band memory was being booed before the opening round of the 1989 NCAA’s in Providence. It was the #1-#16 game versus Princeton. The Hoyas were so hated that when the PA announcer says “And now please rise for the playing of our National Anthem by the Georgetown University Pep Band,” we were assailed with a chorus of boos. We were so feared that the band was
booed
for playing the NATIONAL ANTHEM! That, is the fear that will be back.

My favorite players I overlapped with: Reggie Williams, Perry McDonald, Ronnie Highsmith, and Charles Smith.

Favorite players since: ROY, ROY, and ROY!

I grew up in Grand Forks, ND and now live in Fargo, ND
(but will secretly admit to being born in Jersey City.)

I don’t own a woodchipper, but I do have one of those “Fargo” movie-style winter hats that I wear while snowblowing the driveway.

Song ideas often come from off the court. Best examples, the ROY cheer inspiring “Heart of a Hoya” and Jeff Green’s Mom inspiring, well, “Jeff Green’s Mom.” I can’t help but hear a song (any song) and think…..hmmmmmm…..It’s a sickness, really. Exhibit A: “It’s Chvotkin.”

P.S.  I am keeping my day job as a pediatrician."
